Overview
Draconic love letter to Japanese and retro indie game characters. Stylish, fashionable and fiery dragon-kaiju personalities, collected on a dedicated website
Client
Serpenta is an NFT featuring 5555 Genesis Dragons. The website features staking and breeding which grants unique access to subsequent generations of dragonlings, hidden treasures, new NFT drops from Japanese artists and future access passes to other projects.
Solution
In response to Serpenta’s brief, we designed a website that places the Kaiju Dragons illustrations at the forefront. An economical yet vivid color palette was chosen to let the collectibles stand out, supported by unobtrusive background tones that don’t compete with the primary visuals. Interactive, gamified buttons were developed with multiple states that echo the tactile feel of physical controls, while a custom icon set was created to populate the mini-games with imagery purpose-built for the experience.
Challenge
Serpenta was looking for a playful website that puts an emphasis on character presentation and features gamified UI elements: finding artefacts, collecting and levelling up the Kaiju Dragons, and winning lootboxes — all alongside a secure wallet integration.
Landing
The user’s introduction to the project begins on the landing page, where an abundance of illustrations and a carefully balanced use of decorative elements convey the lore of the Kaiju Dragons. The landing page scroll incorporates moments of surprise through shifts in direction: when appropriate, the scroll transitions from vertical to horizontal, allowing specific content groups, such as the timeline event cards, to be explored in greater depth
Minting
As the cornerstone experience of the user journey, the Minting page balances clarity and visual richness. Key information is communicated transparently, complemented by ambient visuals that enhance the immersion. Collectables are presented through gamified cards, each with custom design
Staking
The staking page invites users to immerse themselves in the dragons’ lore, tracing their journey across the dimensions they inhabit. Through the collection of artefacts, dimension imagery is progressively revealed, allowing the story to unfold with a gradual progress
Serpenta World
Serpenta World reveals fragments of the dimensions the dragon has traversed, each unveiling offering the chance to obtain an artifact. This allows users to closely track the journey of their own Serpenta dragons, with unexpected discoveries awaiting at every step
